Had my FTO fail its MOT on the rear fog lights. Previously passed no problem with the existing fog light in the rear cluster but now they say with the new regulations I need to have a certificate to prove the rear fogs are legal ? can anyone help please ?

Based on the manual - http://www.motinfo.gov.uk/htdocs/m4s01000301.htm - I'd say they were wrong, but you can call VOSA to check.

The Construction and Use Regulations - http://www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/1989/1796/sched... - specify that the rear fog lamps should have "an approval mark", but that's not part of the MOT (what is legal and what passes an MOT test are two different things).

Just unlucky choice of uninformed MoT centre, I reckon.
The rear fog lights on my imported GTO are the centre part of the high brake lights on the wing. No problem with the MoT last month.
