Right have been looking for a new car for a while now. Must be Japanese. Must be RWD. And preferably a 2 door coupe. Had a look at S-bodies, Skyline's and have come across a Supra local.

Is a 3.0 with good spec and nice colour, hasn't been chaved etc. Although it has an automatic gearbox banghead which I know after about 20 miles would start doing my head in! How easy a conversion is it to swap to a manual box? And more important how expensive/readily available are the parts? Used to running MX5's where gearboxes are about 47 pence!

Cheers, EM177

Manual getrag boxes for the Supra fetch really good money I'm afraid! There's one on eBay at the moment for 3k...

3.0 n/a or TT? if its just an n/a you can get away with running a w58 box and the conversion will be £1500ish if you pay someone to do it. The boxes are ok for 350ish bhp iircsmile

If it's TT then you have the option of the R154 box which is 5 speed and good for about 550bhp or the getrag 6 speed that supra's come with as standard and take mega power! as mentioned above though they will cost you 3k just for the box!!

Tbh for the hassle and cost of converting to the 6 speed getrag you may aswell just buy a manual from the start unless the auto has had crazy money spent on it and lots of power.

Here you go, this will give you some idea of what's involved in a swap to the 6 speed:
