Hi all. I have started looking at Celica GT4'S for some reason...not 100% sure why....I have a mk4 supra and a jag xjs....i think i fancy having a go at building some sort of racer/rally/track project....and I guess the idea of 4x4 turbo sounds exciting.....i like the look of the early st165 gt4's.....question is, are they just a waste of time and should i look at the later cars?...i suppose what i want is something thats fun to drive...does it make the grade?

Is it a cut price alternative to the Audi quattro/Lancie Integrale?.....I understand that Toyota won a load of WRC races with it....

Good cars in their time but I believe they only have something like 180bhp. Have a gander over on Gt4oc, or celica-club for more info.

Great cars if you can find a good one as a base for a project car - sadly most have been crashed or rotted to death now.

Nice cars, quite rare I would of thought now. Pesonally like the ST185 model. In Carlos Sainz edition version you get better gearbox and extra power with 205hp to start with. As mentioned GT4OC is a good source of info. I did try bidding on a ST185CS but it went way over my budget at the time. Waited a bit and got my R33GTR instead which I'm very pleased with also.

Due to their age, a lot of ST165s have been scrapped. Your best bet is to try out GT4OC.co.uk for what few remaining owners/examples are left.

For bang per buck 4wd turbo car, you want an ST205 really.
