Had a custom exhaust fitted yesterday. First attempt was pretty much straight through which sounded a tad rough, very loud and very boomy in the cabin.
Took it back and added a centre box which is better but I'm still not sure it's right for me*. Maybe a little too loud and an annoying harmonic/resonance between 2-3,000 RPM. I'll give it a few hundred miles to bed in before I make a final decision.

On a tunnel run this afternoon so will have an opportunity to test it out in some exalted company: click.

* Note - the specialist is not at fault. He's done exactly what I asked and I was very impressed with his knowledge and ability.

New stainless systems sound very different and 500 miles or so, they are often boomy when new

The harsher edges will probably have smoothed off after a few hundred miles, once the insides of the exhaust tips have a mm or so of carbon coating them. It will probably pop and bang a lot more on a closing throttle too.

If you love the sound but dont want the cabin resonance you can always add extra Dynamat sheets to the boot floor and other areas, ive done it before and it works well.

Couldn't live with the drone. I've wussed out and gone back to stock.
It sounds great on idle and full chat but a drone/resonance between 2,000-3,000 RPM.

yeah, that happened on my jaguar - as I removed the rear resonators that are there to stop the drone. Liberal application of dynamat kept it at bay, but it was a weekend car so not used as often as yours
