Mazda 2 Sport any opinions?
Discussion
I can't find a thread on here that discusses this car at all which is surprising because it has good reviews and is even better on paper. Main rival is probably the Panda 100hp and Toyota Yaris T Sport. The gearbox is meant to be straight out of the mx-5. Anyone ever driven one of these?
I had the Mazda 2 ts version, never really liked it,thought the reviews were overrated, very soft paint which was easily marked.Drove a friends sport,if that gear box is in the 5 i have no idea where this rifle like feel originates.Plenty of better cars imho out there for that price bracket.

Does anyone know if the Mazda mpg figures can be trusted? 49mpg for a 1.5l sport sounds optimistic, when cars with similar bhp like the Yaris T-sport 1.5 and Panda 100hp 1.4 both return ~41mpg.
All manufacturer figures are over inflated for MPG, as they're not calculated on the road and done on rolling roads etc. They've been in trouble for this - Honda have been sued I know this much, so I expect they'll start telling the truth on newer models, but that wont be applicable to these. Also looked at a Suzuki Swift Sport as an alternative? I tend not to place too much importance on mpg for that reason. I'm only going to using the car for social anyway so mileage will be low. Also looked at a Suzuki Swift Sport as an alternative? Sounds like you need to make a what car post in GG!
I thought "Reader's Cars" forum was for what car posts?

What would you guys recommend instead? I'm looking for a sport version of a model, so I want the performance and the sporty suspension, but keep it this size for insurance reasons.
I've worked with 3 people who have / had Mazda 2 sports, believe me when I say there is nothing remotely sporty about them, it's just a name for another trim level really. There is very, very little in the way of "performance" and the "sporty suspension" didn't feel much different to any other car in this class that doesn't have a "sport" moniker.
