I have a 370 GT Roadster, 11 plate, 7k miles, bought from new (anniversary present from the wife smile )to replace my Lexus '08 IS-F.

Recently (this week), after exiting the car, and on closing the door, the driver's side window has started to descend to the half-way position, then stops there. I then have to get in the car, start it up with the clutch-down/button in thing, close the window, switch off and try to close the door. Repeat many times, and after a while sometimes it closes, but sometimes I have to climb over to the passenger side to get out and leave the car secure.

Could this be something that has arisen via the locking/alarm system which could be cured by doing something clever with key, etc. or is this, as I suspect, a warranty issue?

The 'service' 'manager' at my local dealer in Bishops Stortford is an utter waste of space, offering to 'take a look' in the middle of next week ('but don't ask me for a courtesy car 'cos that would make my life difficult'!).

Any counsel/advice you can offer would be very much appreciated.

If it is a warranty issue, I shall take it to an alternative dealer and get it fixed. But combined with the clutch biting point falling to the floor progressively, and the ridiculous tyre scrub when maneuvering at a crawl in car parks, I'm fed up with the car tbh.

Bit of a bump.

But I happen to be looking at both cars. How do you find them?

Though I must admit. IMO, having owned a 350z and test driven the ISF/370z, excluding the way they look, the nissan has nothing on the lexus. Of course the 370 is a fair chunk cheaper than the ISF, but if you're comparing an 11 plate Z to an 08 plate ISF, I can't imagine there's much in it.

So why downgrade just to get a slightly newer car? Genuinely interested!

We'll we've all got differing tastes, but my reasoning was as follows;

  • I get bored quickly, 18 months is typically enough with any one car for me
  • I loved the Lexus, but it is, at the end of the day, just a very fast 4 dr auto saloon
  • I like new cars
  • I love convertables
  • I wanted a manual - prefer the control
  • I use other cars which are as fast if not faster than the Lexus, so hunger for absolute speed sated elsewhere
  • As a daily drive, the opportunity to exploit the incremantal speed difference between the Lexus and the 370Z is almost non existant, so no huge difference in reality, and the 370Z is easily fast enough for a daily
  • It was a 20th wedding anniversary present from my wife
I've had it 18 months, so my eye is starting to wander......

P.S. The window issue was fixed with a self-administered 30 second re-set
