Mk2 MR2 exhausts

Hi guys

I bought my first MR2 this weekend (a black rev 5), which has a HKS Hipower single exit on it, modified to fit the N/A. It's a bit loud for my liking though so am looking for something a bit quieter, and more standard looking.

Can anyone recommend an off the shelf twin exit system that's not too loud on an N/A car? I've seen the Mongoose being mentioned a few times, but have no idea how loud it is. I'm tempted to go up to JP Exhausts and have something custom made but won't have the free time for a few weeks yet.

Get someone to weld together two Blitz NurSpec R exhausts. Just what you're looking for...

Nah, the Mongoose is quite nice, not too loud, looks stock-ish. Every other aftermarket one I've heard might be considered obnoxious in some circles.

Thanks, I've been recommended either a Mongoose or Magnex. I'll be getting a standard cat to go on there in an attempt to quieten it down a bit too. The HKS with sports cat I have now is far too loud for me!

I have a youtube of my NA with Mongoose Cat back and Apexi intake on. Sounds great, but it sure aint quiet... And I'm used to loud cars.

Get a Skytune 80Db from Belgium. They are the best i've ever heard.

I had one on my Mk1 V6 but it was the 88Db one which was a touch too loud at low revs. The top end left me moist though.

Do you have to go to them for fitting, or do they sell off the shelf? I can't seem to see from their website and found a thread on TwoBrutal mentioning going across to have one fitted.

Cheers, I've sent them an email via their site enquiring about an 80db system. Might try and get across for the bank holiday at the end of the month.

My JanSpeed exhaust isn't too loud unless you are WOT. Not sure if you can still get them new though.

Best bet is to go custom though. Tell them exactly what you want, and they will be able to make it! And it will probably be cheaper than buying a new off the shelf one anyway.

IMO the Blue Flame exhaust is far superior to the Mongoose. This used to be a regular argument on the MR2OC forum, down to personal preference in the end. Nice note, not too loud pretty inexpensive too!
