Early Lexus RX thoughts?

Colleague at work is looking at purchasing an Early Lexus RX from 2000-2003 era. Visually the latter cars from 2003 look a lot better and hold their value more but are the early RX just a re-badged Toyota Harrier or are they a true Lexus product?

Also anything to look out for on these?
