06 IS220d MPG

So after many years of owning various marques I'm back in the Lexus fold with a 06 IS220d however even if i drive like my grandmother i can not seen to get more than 35 - 36 mpg is this right for this car or is there an issue with it?
Iv tried driving without the AC on and no matter how i drive the mpg seems the same.

What are others getting?

It probably could do with getting the EGR cleaned or replaced that would help, but they only average around the 40 mpg anyway.

the biggest factor is how you drive. I can regularly get 20% more mpg than my wife.

If i remember right, there was 2 different gearing, sport (shorter) and normal (longer). Sport has an abysmal mpg in higher speed.
