You can get early ones now for £2000, and we recently saw an immaculate red G-plate for just under £3k. The earlier you go for, the more likely you are to get 'classic' insurance. Some insurers don't require NCB but then won't let you build one up. So, even though you get a cheap quote, you won't maintain your NCB. You could always buy something really cheap as your 'everyday' car and insure the MX5 as a limited mileage 2nd car. We did this with a Mini and paid £100 insurance and £100 tax and got a Spitfire insured for £95, whereas the Spit would have coast £400 alone!
The little I know about Eunos's (hmm, not much, square rear number plate ?, not the same level of anti-corrosion protection ?) is that other people like me for whatever reason don't seem to rate them as high as an originally-supplied-to-the-UK-market MX-5. I'm sure they are very nice cars, of course I checked the classifieds and there are indeed many to choose from, with all the cars around I guess we can afford to be picky. Daughter's pretty cute too.

Eunos = Import - and don't be put off by that - especially as she's old enough and has enough no claims for it not to affect the insurance THAT much.
Japan has little or no salt (weird as it's also an island) in comparison to the UK (we have more rain and also salt roads) so they're often rust free and better - even if they're not undersealed, which most are when imported.
Imports often have more gadgets for the same price - and lower mileage. I'm not saying this is always the case - but can be.
Do what I am doing, look around for the best example you can, there are alot out there and test drive as many as you can to find out what she wants. Yes, be picky, buying a car is a big investment (actually it's a money pit.......) so you want to make sure it's going to be the one you want.
