Is newest always best?
Where would you look for a really good Skyline, budget £35K.
High power and reliability paramount.
Circa 450 bhp would be nice.
Cheers.

Newer cars are not always best. There are a lot of people that have ditched R34's for good R32 GTR's.
Look on the Skyline owners club, always some good cars for sale. That's how I found mine.
£35k will get you a nice R34, there are a few well-known examples for sale at the moment on www.gtr.co.uk/forum/upload/forumdisplay.php?f=22 at the moment with more power for less money. Personally for that money I wouldn't consider anything less than an R34 GTR.

Are there?!
I've honestly never heard of anyone flogging a 34 for a 32!
news to me too. maybe it was r34 owners who wanted a pre-tuned high powered car rather than having to shell out £50k to get a similar spec?

Yeah, either that or for financial reasons but that doesn't really make any sense, as most R32 GTR's are now on a par with TVR's for being moneypits!

rubbish.
sadly its the rough ones that people are buying that has started this rumour going. i'm sorry but if someone is stupid enough to buy what is essentially a 20 year old car and expect it to be an cheap and easy means of getting supercar power they're in for a shock. Likewise, a well looked after skyline of any variant ( GTST, GTR etc )without intergalactic milage should be as reliable as your average modern day eurobox.
i've had an R32, currently have an R33, and know lots of people with them, ONLY those with higher milage ones have had any real greif aside of one person i know, who's engine died when going around a track flat out, which is a well known issue as there is a lack of baffle plates in the sump and oil starvation occurs.
both my skylines, and my mates skylines have behaved nye on impeccably. which is more than i can say for the majority of the lads i know who've shelled out on brand new TVR's

£35 should get you a decent one..
Look at what £39k would get you www.gtr.co.uk/forum/upload/showthread.php?t=44710
Best advice is get one that has been in the uk for a long time and a service history with a skyline tuner.Anything tuned in japan and just driven over will probably cost you a lot of money, they need setting up for uk fuel.
Best piece of advice I was given was make sure you keep at least £2k in the bank for when something does go wrong..
