Well the FTO served me well, but has now moved on for many years of pleasure with its new owner - Giles, who is yet to be a fully fledged PHer, but came along to the Jap Hoon with Al (You remember Al? MRT? Breaks down a lot? )

So I needed something more practical nowadays so out with the old, in with the new.

Step forward James Agger Autosport with a 2002 Impreza WRX. 1 owner from new, never raced or rallied Previous owner just used it to hack up and down the motorway, much better than some baseball capped chav hooning round the city (yes, i heard that - I'm not a chav!)

Time for some piccies

Yes, yes, I know its got the fugly lights, but they are growing on me and I think they add to the unchavness.

Also a first for the Flibmeister - its completely standard! Yes even the exhaust. That makes it a little easier on the insurance (Now, the KY is complimentary)

So the drive, there seems to be more turbo lag than the MRT, but once on boost its fairly quick. A lot more "flexible" and torquey than the FTO.

It doesnt feel as quick as the MRT, but i think it probbaly is, and its a case of rose tinted specs.... I'm sure we'll find out at the next Jap Hoon.

Please no one piss on my bonfire by saying I should have got an STi (I've got one already, but the doctor has given me some creme) - I couldnt justify the extra insurance costs.

Hmm, not sure about that actually. My boss had exactly this car, and on a straight drag off a roundabout from 20mph, the Four walked the Scooby quite impressively. The MRT was probably a bit quicker depending on revision and spec.

I don't like the colour.

p.s. Try to ignore the STI questions, they only come from people who don't know scoobs anyway.

For now anyway.

I've never understood remapping if i'm honest.

Does it literally remap the current ECU, or do you have to whack an aftermarket "blank" one in?

Any idea what power gains you might expect on the standard WRX?

Not that I'm at all interested you understand.

Depends. Some ECUs are mappable. Most are not.

Generally, in the GT4 world you slap in a Motec and take it to Fensport/A.N. Other for a RR session.
