Impreza Model Reports?
Discussion
I have been offered the chance to import a Type R or STi RA V-Ltd Impreza from Japan. My question is, are there model reports available for these cars as they are either 1998 or 1999 cars. I know there is a model report for an STi V5, but I am unsure whether that is sufficient for the RA/Type R. Anyone know?
There was no model report for the V5 Type R.
As always there are people out there who can get the car on the road through being naughty with the registration process but I know of at least one case at my local SVA centre where this was attempted, the owner of the car and the person who doctored the documents were caught, and the individuals concerned spent some time as a guest of Her Majesty as a result. Not clever. (I am sure many SVA centres would have similar stories to tell).
Not sure what the situation would be with the car mentioned earlier in this thread which has presumably had some tricks played to get it registered. I guess issues may arise if the car were ever involved in an accident and it became clear that all was not as it should be??
If you are viewing any of these cars with a mind to buying then check that the chassis plate matches the chassis number which is stamped into the front bulkhead (the chassis plate is easy for the conmen to change, the bulkhead stamp is not!), you can then also identify the age of the car and variant by referencing these numbers against the chassis ID guides which are easily found online. I can supply you with a guide if you would like.
The Type R is an amazing machine (I am fortunate enough to own a V5 Type R Ltd with a few carefully chosen modifications), great drivers car, mine has been completely reliable in 2 years of hard driving but it is well looked after through my business (I am MD of Adrenaline Motorsport, creators of Impreza based Murtaya).
Seek out a good one, look after it properly and you will never want to sell it!
