I have been in this car before the current owner bought it, and I cannot describe what a visceral experience 251ftlbs of torque produces when in an MX5.
That my friends is an absolute steal of a price for that car.

you would need to drop the boost because 250odd lb ft
Would you?
That car has been running that boost with those power figures for about 3/4 years now and it hasn't gone pop. Also why would FM send a map to Andy if the engine wasn't good for it? The Vishnu will make sure cylinder 4 doesn't run lean, and with the WB 02 hooked up to the Link it's pretty much as safe as it gets.
If anything the gearbox is most likely to go, but then they are very cheap to source if you know where to look.
FM have always been conservative when sending maps to customers, in my old 1.6 FM2 I used the FM map as a base, and with the help of the guys at tracktec managed to squeeze even more power out of it, and in the three years of ownership all that let go was.....the gearbox.
At one point that car was one of the faster in the uk, many moons ago when turboing an MX5 was not the norm, but these days the bar has been raised... I think that certain accolade may go to Steve Willington with his 2l monster. www.tracktec.co.uk/2litre.php

Just because it hasn't gone pop doesn't mean that it is wise to run your internals on the very edge of their specification, speak to just about anyone in the MX5 scene (tuning companies and all) and they say that at 240 lb ft you are pushing your luck.
There have been cars WITH uprated internals that have popped at not much more than that.
The WBO2 means nothing unless you are using it to monitor AFR's (it's sole purpose in life)
which will HELP protect you against det and hence broken pistons/rods but it is certainly not guaranteed (there are other factors to consider that cause det)
but det is not the only thing that will knacker your internals, simply too much torque is easily as dangerous, if not more so, and in my opinion, this car is on the borderline. I'm not looking for an argument, that is just my opinion

No arguments here! Just differing opinions...What makes the world go round
Did you know that Steve Willington’s original 1.6 made 260hp without a built bottom end and never went pop, he even sold the unit on and it is still going strong in a very nice R-Ltd. This was one of the first FM2s in the country.
Retailers may not be the best people to talk to...they do need to cover their backs
I will add though (like all good purveyors of turbo and supercharger kits) you exceed the recommended limits at your own risk!

Well you must've been right as it certainly sold quickly - something of a rarity for heavily modded 5's!
Probably for the best - removal of temptation from my path, although I see the owner is now accepting offers of around £12.5k for this beastie!

I don't think its that amazingly cheap at £7500 for a UK car with an FM2, its a fair price.
My own cars a 1997 Euno 1.8 with Torsen LSD etc as stock £4000 a year ago so £3500 now? and I got a BEGI Disco Potato kit with new Emerald K3 a far better ECU than the very old Link. That lots £4500 so could be done these days for £8000 all in with new kit on a better base car, with modern ecu, and you have the fun of specing it yourself.
