We have a 2000 X reg Jasper Conran Black, with 103000 miles on the clock (yikes!).

It has a hard top, and the original wheels were replaced with some OZ Superlegs (due to one of the original wheels being buckled).

What sort of asking price should we ask selling privately?

£3,000. (The special edition tag adds little value at that mileage. )

eek I reckon it's worth significantly more than that. The cheapest 2000 model 1.8 on Autotrader is up for £4995 with 101k miles on the clock.

No pain on my part whatsoever. The example I quoted is from a private seller, and just to re-iterate, it's the cheapest year 2000 1.8 model on Autotrader nationally. Dealers are asking significantly more than that again.

You can't buy *any* mk2 for £3k, let alone a 1.8 year 2000 special edition model with a hardtop, so I don't see why he would want give it away for that sort of money... confused

At £3000 I'd be on my way with the cash !

As mentioned, the best way to value a car is via the Trader website.

I think the point LA is making is that, yes, it might be worth £4-5000 but as there are so many of them around with much lower mileages, it certainly won't actually sell at that price.
Personally I'd say advertise at £4-4500 but be prepared to get lower offers.

Thanks, just gauging peoples opinions really. We'll probably keep it till just before summer, spend a little tidying it up and then try selling it to someone who want to pose in the summer.

Ok following on from this, can anyone give me an indication of how much my 51 plate mk2.5 1.6i black mx5 is worth with 45k on the clock? It was in mint condition before someone wrote it off. Expecting the insurers to come in with a price of less than £6k but looking at the trader, anything over and about £7k is the usual
