Afternoon...

I've been toying with the idea of swapping my RX7 for a Lancer Evo 4 and I've seen a fair few up for sale with between 75,000 and 79,000 miles on the clock. This suggests that there may be some sort of either major service expense due or there is a Evo 4 self destruct button that is automatically pressed around this mileage.

First thought was cambelt but I gather these need changing around 45,000 miles.

Has anyone got any ideas/knowledge.

Also while I'm asking - does a straight exchange deal with a willing Evo 4 owner sound plausible. The RX is well sorted, some choice modifictions and the obligitory engine rebuild done by one of the most respected Rotary builders in UK and only around 3K miles since. All told if I was looking to sell privately I'd be expecting £7,000 to £7,500 for it...

Thoughts as always much appreciated...

Cheers

DC

Evo 4 engines are known to suffer crank walk. The 5 onwards is stronger.
