Folks,

I've been wondering for a while, has anyone ever tried fitting an old civic vti 1.6 VTEC engine into an MX5.

it struck me while thinking about turbo/supercharger possibilities for mine - might this be another alternative? my mate's S2000's engine is quite something, and I thought the 'revviness', combined with the top end shove you get from a vtec, might be quite a laugh in an mx5. Also - the older civics must be quite common now, therefore might be quite cheap..

Of course - it's entireley possible I'm talking tosh!!

Go Mazda rotory if you want buzz, you'll save almost 100kg's too getting rid of the 1.6 boat anchor compared to the Wankel. It'll bolt in nicely too.

That'd be awesome, is it a popular conversion? I've never heard of it before.....I presume its the twin turbo jobby?

there was a guy who recently changed the entire running gear of his mx-5 for that of an rx-8 so surely the engine would be the easy part! I think it was in last weeks autocar or evo
