Hi chaps,
Can I have some help please?
I'm servicing my mates '94 WRX 2.0l Scooby and cannot get hold of the correct oil filter for the damm thing!
It is a Jap import and was supposed to have been serviced before he bought it, but the filter that is on there looks like it has been on since new.
When I took the old filter off I found that the replacement filter I got was the right size and type but that the thread inside was wrong. The new filter was marked 3/4" and the old one 20mm.
I took it back to the motor factors and we checked all the filters listed for the Scooby and all were the same imperial thread.
Has anyone else had this problem? If so where did you get the correct metric thread filter from?
Thanks. LILm.

I had a number of filters on my jap 93 WRX (Champion from Halfrauds, genuine scooby ones and one from Graham Goode, can't remember the make.)
I'm 99% sure all the ej20 engines use exactly the same filter, jap or otherwise.
The size of the filters changed over time to fit round the changes in the heat shield but the thread was always the same.
I often had trouble starting the thread, might this be your problem?
Try another filter from a stealer or halfrauds. If you have the same problem I'd say its the thread on the block thats faulty.
