Decat or sports cat/exhaust, filter and an Ecutek remap. (and possibly a fuel pump)

Simple, very effective.

Exactly as my investigations discovered.
What do you mean by filter?

Yes.. either an uprated panel filter or a cone filter setup.

Somw chap advised me that cone filter would play havoc with my 'air flow sensor' or words like this.
What do you reckon?

Well, certainly on the subaru's it can result in the air flow meter being maxxed out, not a problem if your having the remap done anyway.

The 'oiled' filters have been known the kill the Air flow sensor all together.

Unless you want huge power, i'd probably just go for a replacement panel filter.

No problems with the AFM, the only limiting factor is it can only cope with up to 400bhp, then you really need an ECU that uses a MAP sensor.

You will see excellent gains with a filter 3" turbo back exhaust and re-map, beware of catching the tuning bug though it can become VERY expensive.

What does this mean?
Is it different form a 'downpipe' and 'decat section' combination?

Most of the exhausts available are cat back, you then need to get a de-cat (or sports cat) and a front pipe. The front pipe makes the biggest difference on the evo, so when getting a full system make sure it is a turbo back one.

RC Developments and TSL (amongst others) do exellent systems for a reasonable price and are true 3" systems.

Rip out the engine and transmission and sell it to fund a V8+RWD conversion.
