.....or Corolla, whatever it is biggrin

Would this one be RWD?

Not being a Toyota nut, I'd need a year rather than serial number (IIRC the AE86 was the RWD one or something, but no idea what shape that is, so I need an idiot proof response! smile)

AE86 was the last of the "good" ones I'm afraid, everything else is just gay fwd after that sadly.

The red one in your pic is an ae92 fwd corolla gti... i had one. Great engine - 4age - same as the ae86 rwd 'rolla and mk1 mr2. Good cars, though steering is a little lifeless. For the money they are great and not much slower than a crex vtec, but they suffer badly from rust if neglected. The corolla before the ae86, the ae82, also happened to be fwd just to confuse you!

And thanks to Initial D, good luck finding an AE86 for a good price. I've got to admit, a RWD hot hatch does sound quite entertaining. I can't say i've been in one though.

I've driven an ae86, very light, very quick, too much body roll and loves to loose the tail end. IIRC reading one of my Jtuner mags (before they stopped it) Back in 05, a ae86 made it to the finals and or won a D1 tournament, beating all these 20 year newer / 50k more expensive cars in the process! Lovely piece of machinery. Thanks to Initial D they are sort after and hugely overpriced!

Great cars got a couple of good vids of one of the old masters driving it against an R32 the other car similar was the nissan silvia I think not sure what model number but very similar in design.

Would like one myself but on they are like hens teeth and two people want stupid money for them, found one AE86 jap import with over 100k on the clock for £6 grand FFS !!

I've had two AE86s now, and whilst they are great motors, for the money they fetch there are better cars out there if you want the whole RWD thing - my missus bought an FD RX7 TypeR for less than these Corollas go for! biggrin

Nah, it was just a thought as I saw the one in the autotrader pic going for not a lot and wondered if that generation was RWD - fairly sure it wasn't, but thought I'd check! Only after a daily hack, but it might have made things a bit more interesting if the AE86s went for that sort of price. Instead, look's like it'll be something comparatively mundane like a 323 or civic.
