I'm travelling down South from Edinburgh, stopping off at Newcastle, Leeds, then onto Silverstone, does anyone know where I can purchase a Greddy Profec Spec 2 Boost Controller from on the journey down? Any shop?

what would you suggest???

I use a profec b and it struggles to control the boost when i run nitrous.

Ideally i want something that can give at least 2 boost levels like the profec b

Yup, AVCR is the best by far.

Slight hijack here - what's the benefit of a dedicated boost controller over that built into an ECU such as Megasquirt MSnSE?

I use the Profec B Spec 2 and it works very well - nice and simple.

The Apexi unit is a nightmare to set up and is over complicated. You don't need half the fluff on it and it looks like a handheld games consule.

Never had any luck with the AVCR, but the Blitz DSBC's are excellent, as are the TurboSmart E-Boost

Its is indeed a nightmare. You actually need to read about 2 paragraphs in the instruction manual. Imagine rolleyes

Entire install including wiring took under an hour.

AVCR is brilliant, a lot of the quickest japanese cars in the UK use them.

The best feature is that it allows you to have gear dependant boost control, which is a huge plus over an ECU or less "complicated" boost controllers.

I find it a very easy piece of kit to setup and use, you dont have to use all the features, but its superb when you take the time to learn what it can do for you.

Ah but if you want that kind of feature just link a Blitz SBC-ID & a Blitz power meter. They are easier to use, and the boost curves with the Blitz DSBC solenoid are excellent.

The E-Boost2 also offers in gear selectable boost, as well as a programmable AUX switch for water injection, nitrous etc, and again it has an excellent solenoid. It can also be purchased with a very good shift light built in too, and not forgetting the gate pressure control system that works very well.

Chatting to other Skyline owners it seems the Profec b is the boost controller of choice and the AVCR is seen as over complicated as well as large and bulky

Erm, excellent, wire in 2 products and it'll do the same as the 1 AVC-R? I found the Blitz SBC in my Glanza a pain in the arse in comparison to the AVC-R in my Celica.

Wont proclaim to have any knowledge of the turbosmart products although they do carry good reputation from what I've read.

If a Profec B was to come up seriously cheap and I needed a boost controller, I may buy one, but personal choice would always be:
1 - AVC-R
2 - EVC
3 - SBC-iD

Thanks, having owned all of the above, IME you have the order the wrong way around, and before you ask, I do understand how to use all of them. I would personlly use an E-Boost ( I have owned two of those too), but I understand many people don't appreciate the gauge style.

Goes to prove tuning is subjective.....
