Galant 2.5 v6-24 timing belt
Discussion
Think I may be getting old, have gone from a TVR Chimaera, to an Audi S4, and now... to a Galant...
Can anyone tell me what the service interval for the cambelt is on one of these? The owner's handbook unsurprisingly says words to the effect of "don't think for yourself, just take it to a dealer every fortnight so we can bend you over"
The car has 63k on the clock and I have no record of it having had the belt changed - I'm thinking it would probably be wise to do it anyway as most of the ones that seem to wind up at the breakers yard have snapped cambelts!
Does anyone know of a kit with followers etc for sale anywhere? And how much it'll cost me?
Cheers

Hi.
Im in fareham so a bit of a treck.
Any compitant garage can do it for you.
I got the parts from Camskill for around £100 (camkit) and i think the water pump was off Fleabay.
You should be looking around £250 labour (inc changing water pump).
It is well worth getting the pump done (as long as you can afford the extra money for the part (not a lot: heres one: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Water-Pump-Japan-OEM-for-Leg... )
Most garages wont charge much more to do pump as everything else is already off and out the way so you may as well get it done for piece of mind.If it goes at a later date youll be paying another £2-250.
hope this helps
