I'm thinking of putting a deposit on a Nissan GT-R (R35).... anyone know what deposits are being taken (if any) and whether its only through special dealers? whistle

Might be worth getting in touch with Middlehurst?

I put a grand down with Middlehurst. Gotta be done!
They told me my place on the list was in the first batch of deliveries (end of next year/start of '09)?

It's a grand to get on the waiting list (at Middlehurst) which shows your intention to buy, then when the order books officially open in March/April if you're high enough up the list you'll be offered to spec your car soon after. At which point you'll have to pay a larger percentage of the list price with your firm order.
Damn, better start saving those pennies now...

You all know that these are not "proper" deposits and you do not have a place in any queue? This is nothing more than which one of you Middlehursts will deal with first HTH.

Like i said, the grand just shows your intention to buy. The actual 'deposit' will be placed when the order books open. I trust that Chris at Middlehurst will act appropriately when it comes to first come first serve when this process begins, rather than the random way you are suggesting?

I was just trying to point out that just because you have £1k with Middlehursts, DOES NOT mean that you will definately get a car. The deposit with middlehursts just dictates which order they deal with you when the order books open.

Your dealer is taking the piss my friend, Nissan UK have not announced which dealers get to sell them yet. Any deposit taken at the moment is purely speculative.

I had some pratt from Nissan Reading and Nissan Slough trying to tell me how they have sold X amount of cars etc when it is all total boocks!

All cool dave. I know exactly what you're saying, and you're totally right. i.e. no dealers have been announced yet, the grand isn't a deposit etc etc.
But despite what you're saying Middlehurst WILL be one of the very few dealers taking orders on the R35. So, when the order books do open people that have expressed their intentions now, will be dealt with on a first come first serve basis. I'm just making sure I'm close to the front of the scrum when orders start to be 'officially' taken. They have to have a system in place, and this is how they've chosen to do it. I went through exactly the same when I got my M3 CSL. So actually it DOES mean that we will definitely get a car, the only uncertainty is when...
I totally know what you're saying about other dealers trying it on though, I had a Nissan dealer in Docklands telling me he'd take a deposit (clearly a chancer).
On a similar topic, I had the Aston dealer where I got my Vantage emailing me yesterday asking if I'd like to place a 'letter of intent' for a Vantage RS. I'd be surprised if the car like it was shown on Tuesday ever gets made? IMO it's a PR exercise to raise interest in the Vantage brand after the release of the DBS, before a lesser evolution is announced that will probably be the Vantage S, at which time the letter of intent will be transferred to that car... just dealers playing the game.
I don't know if you've had a bad experience will Middlehursts?, all I know is that if you want to get behind the wheel of a UK R35, this is probably the best route to go?

spoke to tunbridge wells nissan who are meant to be one of the 10 main dealers....

they said no one was allowed to take deposits yet...

they could only put you on a list of names they will contact when they know which dealers and how many cars are being brought in...

Might have been boocks of course...

Let's be honest. Middlehurst were the only official servicing agent for the R32 and R33 and the only recognised importer. They seviced cars from all over the country, they supercharge the 350Z and run a race team. I've used them for 3 years very successfully and I'm in Milton Keynes and St Helens is a trek away. I took my supercharged 350Z to the local dealership when the engine management light came on and they couldn't even run diagnostics on it!!

So which dealership may get to distribute the GTR ... Milton Keyens or Middlehurst. Contrary to the 10-16 dealrships rubbish talked on here there will be very limited numbers servicing these cars, never mind selling them ... according to friends in high places in Nissan UK. Time will tell obviosuly, but I know where I've put my pre-order £1k deposit, and it isn't in Milton Keynes!

Nissan dealers will be finding out in early Jan who will get the GT-R. The franchise managers have made appointments with those selected dealers and will be outlining the margin structure and franchise standards required to be a supplier and servicing agent for the car.

Yes, everybody expects Middlehurst to be on the list but don't be surprised if many of the other dealers mentioned in this post are appointed also as many are part of the biggest Nissan dealer groups in the UK.

Unless you've got the full 70k to put down as a deposit do you really think you stand much of a chance getting hold of one in the first batch. Lets face it Nissan uk have already said they are taking names and addresses and will selecting the lucky few. Something tells me it wont be people part-exing a 200sx and 69k finance, no the people we be pop/rock stars, tv presenters and footballers. I hope i'm wrong, i'll keep my fingers crossed that at least one true pistonhead gets their hands on one.
