Have seen it before and asked myself the same question , but on the other side of the coin , a hell of a lot of work has went into it , so fair play.

People do seem to have an obsession with turning MR2's into ferrari's. This one isn't a bad job I suppose. But there are some truely terrible MK2 MR2 "ferrari look-a-likes" about.

Why spend so much money on a fake, imagine if a genuine fezza owner pulls up next to you in a petrol station, you'd feel a bigger w*nker than the fezza owner, which often takes some doing I suspect hehe

It would be cooler to make a Ferrari look like a MR2.

What a tool, i can never understand why anyone would go to so much trouble. Years ago when i first got my mini cooper i gave a "355" a hard time along a strech of motorway was hilarious.

Good effort. Nowt wrong with building these things if all you're after is the pose value. He'll never make the money back on it though.

Me? I'd sell the private plate (gotta be worth a few quid) and saved the money from building an MR2 with a nice dress on it and bought a proper sports car instead (Chrimera, 968 CS etc etc)

Oi! Behave. All 3 generations of MR2 had alot going for them, the MkI was agile, the MkII esp the turbo was bloody fast, mid engined, rear wheel drive and well balanced.

The only crime of the MkIII was being a tad underpowered, though they handle better than the MkII IMO.

Proper sports car indeed.

It looks like a pretty good hobby to me, they seem to make an awesome job of the cars.Poor performance must be frustrating though.

hows about a fake Aston, made from a mustang http://www.exclusivemotorcars.ca/gallery.html only thing that really gives it away is the MASSIVE badge on the steering wheel

The Roadster to 360 works, but the shape is all wrong on the Ast. The mark 2 MR2 conversion was never right either.

To tell the truth, i considered doing it myself when i owned an MR2 Roadster, but the cost was a little more than i could justify, and meeting another 360 was a genuine concern, you would feel a plum.

100% respect to the guy though, its a great looking project car and in some ways its no different than a replica of a classic car.

Why - kitcar insurance, unique car, and owning a 360 is only a dream for most people, and it does look the part. In fact the kit he has used was given 9 out of 10 by Top Gear in a kit car comparison test, apparantly its very very close to the real thing!!

i think he has done an excellent job, that cannot be denied. i think it is more of a showcar thing then a driving thing? maybe? actually now i think about it i really like it and have upmost respect for the work he has done, ok yes it will be slow (in comparison) and can never re-create the sound but still look at it! it is a very good replica.

You can always throw a turbo on one cloud9

Re the Ferrari kit - have followed this right through, it may not be everyone's cuppa but I really admire the bloke for the time and effort he's put in on it.

Admittedly I scan read- but did he say £12k for the kit?

When you work out parts, labour, paint and sundries you may aswell buy a real F348.
