I've got a Tesco 99 place and a Shell station right next to me. Thus far I've always run it on V-Power.

Would the Tesco 99 be better, equal or worse?

Not sold: Err no. I'm having 'difficulties' with a certain other vehicle.

Try it: Well, I'd like to know the concensus opinion but hell yeah, why not. smile

I think 99 tescos & V-power are very similar. All else is not as good at det avoidance.

I'm told V-Power over a few days to a week, loses a bit of its octane rating and goes off more quickly than Tesco 99RON. I hear exactly the same thing about BP Ultimate 102RON, and that is suppose to be even worse than V-Power. So if you go on holiday for two weeks and leave the car at the airport, just make sure there is enough fuel to get you to the nearest shell station if you use V-Power so you can fill up with fresh tank of fuel.

I've always used Tesco fuel in my scoob since i first got it. Started initially though with Optimax for a few tanks and then tried Tesco 98RON. Very quickly after that i stayed with Tesco 98RON, then 99RON. Does the job!!

Mine was mapped on 99RON and runs fine on Tesco99 and V-Power with no det registering on the KL.

Re V-Power 'going off' Optimax was not refined to 98RON but was 95RON with additives. (The pumps used to bear the legend "enhanced 95RON" ). If V-Power is produced the same way then it could conceivably lose some of it's det resistance with age but I've never experienced any problem even on track on a warm day.

My UK car runs nicely on Tesco 99.

I might change this to normal fuel though as the petrol prices are getting stupid.

I swear I read in a magazine, and on a website that Tesco 99 was slightly better than V-power?

Anyway, I run mine on Tesco, the amount of petrol I go through I rack up so many clubcard points I get crap loads of free drinks at christmas with my vouchers thumbup

I think that was evo, but it was Tesco vs Optimax, not V-power if memory serves.
