can these really be had for this price or is this a one off?

looking at spending 7-8k on next car but didnt think post 00 scoobs were an option.

Anything to watch out for or are they really a good buy? (fuel consumption aside, obviously- im doing 15k plus a year)

tempted...

There are normaly hundreds of Impreza's in the classifieds so it should be easy to have a look and see what others are fetching.
I would estimate that my Impreza ( last shape and 3 years older ) is worth half that, so it could be correct. Also, the "bug eye" shape such as the one in that ad are unpopular due to the styling, so ( IMHO ) have always been great value if you can live with the looks.

I can't really see the point of spending twice as much on a car that is more or less the same but even uglier than a MY99 wink

Thats why I like my classic. Having said that, the classics are getting older, and if you like the performance and can live with the looks, I think the bug eyes are excellent value.

it just suprised me more than anything to see such a decent looking car for comparatively little.

i think all scoobs are a bit marmite in the looks dept but you cant argue with the bph/£ of them. For what im after I think the wrx with ppp would strike the perfect balance, plus ive heard they arent too far behind the sti in terms of real world performance...

im looking for a new scoob, ive got a classic 99 ive souped it up to 260bhp, ive had two engines three gearboxes and a few diffs, i want a new one i love the styling of the classics but what i have just relised is that most of them are getting old now because of what type of car it is they dont last. its a turbo 2000 model and it just cant take it, wrx`s are a step up but lack some essential parts, if you can afford it go STI thats what ive relised they are built to boot, they are built to withstand a certain punishment and the handling is a tad tighter. for the extra reddies you get alot more and you will only soup up a wrx or 2000 model to the same performance for more money.

Perfectly reasonable i would say. You can get a blobeye WRX for 8k if you go private and are able to haggle, there are so many out there that buyers can really push for a good deal. Skip the bug, although i do like them, and get a blob with about 35-45k on it.wink
