Took the ra out for a spin last night and it doesn't seem quite right. Under heavy acceleration it feels like i hit a brick wall at times. Other times it was just stuttering slightly and then powering through.

I've recently changed the exhaust for a full decat 3" system from a 2.5" and also changed to a v6 sti intercooler. Boost peaks at around 13 - 14 psi and holds at 12 when all is well.

It's a 93 so has the self learning ecu. I run it on tesco 99 plus octane booster. Any ideas guys?

hadn't thought of that. will give the boost solenoid and pipes a clean out. not sure if they've ever been done before. certainly not in the year i've had the car.

Double check your turbo's not got lots of end play ( a wee bit is normal) if so its on its way out. The boost fluctaution is the impellors rattling on the housing. If so don't use it!!! Turbine blades in engines don't do em any good!

Obviously do this check with the engine OFF!!!

checked the play in the turbo shaft when i had the inlet pipe off last and it was pretty solid. but i will check it again. if the turbo is at fault i guess a td06 is on the way lol.

Off topic, but can I ask why you run it on Tesco 99 PLUS octane booster?

peace of mind and nothing more really. if i've got octane booster in it as well there should be even less chance of det. if it didn't have it in at the moment it might have ended up with some damage.

i'm saving up to get simon to fit a simtek. once that's in then i shant worry with the octane booster.
