Skyline for 10K what's the best option
Discussion
Been looking at spending around 10k on a Skyline, what's the best option?
I would appear that 10K will get you an R34 GT-T which has about 280bhp, what is that car giving away to the GTR? It will also get you an R33 GTR, how would that compare to the R34 GT-T.
I do favour the more modern car because it look better and is probably safer/better equipped but I'm willing to be proved wrong.

safety wise, feck all really. I've seen a few smashed up pretty badly and the passenger cell has always remained pretty intact. Airbags I've no interest in, always had them removed with smaller non airbag steering wheels on.
You really need to drive both to see what you prefer, they're really quite different to drive. 10k won't get you the best 33 GTR's out there, but prices aren't too bad, it'd buy you a cracking 32 GTR though, which some would argue are the best drivers cars out of the bunch, something I personally don't agree with.
GTST is a 2.5 single turbo rear wheel drive, lots of the R34's are tiptronic boxes which I found to be a bit s
t, they also can't take a lot of power I was told when looking. They're a good car however, and great fun to drive.
The GTR is a different car altogether, whilst in standard guise there's not a lot to differenciate the power, and how fast they go, but some very basic mods and the GTR will be long gone, they really do free up power easily. 2.6 twin turbo, with loads of scope for tuning. 400bhp is an absolute piece of cake and will see off some very stiff opposition that you wouldn't expect it to. 500bhp is fantastic fun and beyond that is just a question of how much you have to spend. They're a heavy car, but they disguise it well with very direct steering, and they handle very very well, especially on track where you can learn to exploit them.
Obviously the GTR has the ATTESSA 4wd system, which basically consists of the centre diff sending some power forward upon loss of traction, or at high speed to aid stability, which can be useful, but isn't what the uneducated seem to think it is.
Personally I'd take the GTR all day long, and did, twice. Both are great cars however, so you really need to drive both and see which you prefer. The R33 has been around for a while now, still my favourite out of the bunch to look at, silky smooth RB26 engine and a great tuning scene, though the GTT doesn't exactly lose out much there, the RB25 neo is very good, just make sure it's coupled to a manual box.
Sorry if it doesn't answer your question but they're surprisingly different cars to drive, so until you know for sure what you want from the car, what you think you'll do to it mods wise and how you'll use it it's all speculation. If I'm totally honest, I'd sooner have an S15 silvia than an R34 GTT, or an S14a with an RB25 conversion.

Performance wise there isnt a lot to choose between a 34 GTT and a 33 GTR , bog stock neither will set the world alight
Depends on whether you like modifying your cars , if so i would buy a 33 GTR
There is a very nice low milage 34 GTT on the Skyline owners club

or a nice standard V spec 33 for just over 9k
