FTO GPX man vs Supra N/A man
Discussion
Some of you may have seen my post on what i should buy next, with all your help i have put it down to either a 96 supra N/A manual, or a manual GPX fto, i previously said my limit was 2k but i have managed to save £2800, i have seen a few cars for sale so im gonna start looking, i just want to Know which you all would go for, I like the looks of both inside and out, What would the cost difference of owning a decent one of each be i.e. Petrol, parts etc. From what i have read about them they both seem like strong engines i know a supra would be slower and the FTO has an amazing sound. Anyways let the battle commence.
Have you driven either of them? They're very different cars and it seems quite strange to compare them.
Supra - bigger/heavier RWD 3.0 I6 GT coupe, smoother and torquier, better suited to fast stuff.
FTO - smaller/lighter FWD 2.0 V6 coupe/hatch, more frantic and has to be revved to get anywhere but probably more agile/chuckable on the tight stuff.

Supra has 221BHP from its 3.0 straight six (sounds better than the FTO imo) but weighs a bit more. Not the quickest car out as i remember a Honda Civic 1.6 VTEC giving one a run for its money up a drag strip at crail raceway. A workmate of mine has an FTO GPX manual and he commented on how well it handled on the twisty stuff, but was slightly dissappointed with the straight line performance of it (albeit with a decent soundtrack).
I'd go for the Supra tbh, looks, slightly more power, Supra owner status and the noise! All in my opinion though.

if you've "managed to save £2800", I'd suggest a Supra isn't the car for you. Are you planning on insuring it? What happens when it needs a new set of rear tyres or a clutch?I went and bought a supra i paid 3k for a 96 facelift with full leather and no rust, theres a few things little things need doing but im happy with it, As for a BMW e36 my mate has one so i dont want the same car, ive drove his a few times very nice cars but im glad ive got the supra.
