Hell no, the swap is nowhere near the effort of building a kit car.
You can throw it in, in a weekend if you got the engine ready to go but to do a proper job will take you a bit longer than that.
The only fabricating you need to do on a mk2 is an engine side mount and the exhaust. Rest is pretty much plug and play.
A Mk1 Mr2 is a whole different story, plenty fabricating.
TwoBrutal is your fiend though.

I can confirm this, I have just got hold of the engine needed and getting all the other bits and bobs required, belts gaskets etc as replacing everything before putting the engine in. Two Brutal is the source for everything though, wiring guide and untold knowledge from everyone on the site.I was a bit wary of doing this myself but after reading up on it am going ahead with the help of a mate, we reckon we should be able to do the actual swap over a long weekend with having everything ready to go.

It might be worth talking to owners who have already gone down this road. That way you will get real world feedback.I know three people who I could put you in touch with if you're interested.
One has a straight V6 conversion.
Another has as supercharged V6
The third has a turbo'd V6.
All bases covered.
From what i can tell its pretty much a drop it straight in job except fot the engine mount, fly wheel and downpipe which are all easily fixed probs! im pricing up all the bits at the mo and as long as i can afford to pull it off i will let you all know how i get on with it. i have booked 2 weeks off work to get it done so left plenty of time for head scratching and tea breaks.
Hi,If you haven't started your project yet,I have a complete car for sale,It is a 1996 rev3 with a fully rebuilt 3vz in it,I have it posted on hear for sale or I will brake it,the engine 4 paddle clutch fidanza flywheel and lsd gear box,with the wiring harness,and all the bit's to make it run,is £3000,when you consider a 3vz that has covered 100000 miles and put in for you will cost you £2750,the gearbox would be £450 fly wheel £300 clutch kit £300,feel free to email me,both for advise or to discuss parts,

i have a v6 converted MR2, i bought it offf a guy who did the conversion himself, if you are handy with the spanners and can read wiring diagrams (ecu wiring) then it can be done yourself, a camry donor car can be bought for £400-500, so i guess a home build can be done for £1000 - £1200 maybe, the mr2 NA or turbo gearbox goes straight on and only the os mount needs to be made specially by a guy on two brutal, the torque mounts and gearbox mounts are std mr2 items
