A little background:
I've got a bit a cash to spend on toys at the moment. My first priority is to invest wisely in my future which means buying something I can take the roof off, with that in mind I'm currently looking at Lotus Elises, however, so that my scooby doesn't feel left out I was thinking of buying him some new shoes. With that in mind I've been looking at black or anthracite wheels in a similar vein to those seen on the lovely RB320. So a few questions:
1) Is it possible to source RB320 alloys
2) What alternatives would people recommend
3) If I decide to be a cheapskate, has anyone repainted 17inch OEM wheels and if so who have they used and is it worth it for the results.
I like the gold alloys I currently have but everytime I see a scoob with black or anthracite wheels it makes me want to spend some money. Any ideas?

I've got a set of 17" OEM WRX wheels in my garage that are going to be refurbed very soon. I always thought they would look really nice on my Black 02 WRX Wagon painted Mica Black, and seeing as i don't really want the usual 18" wheels and the money wanted for a set of brand new 17" Rota GRA's is prohibitive at the mo i think getting wheels done to suit your requirements is a great idea and cheaper than you think!!
I'm refurbing my own so it should be cheap

That was the idea, I could either spend a fortune on new 18 inch wheels, plus tyres or I could get my OEM 17's repainted. I parked up next to an RB320 a few weeks ago in Macclesfield and it looked fantastic with the black 18s and the front grill
I'm going to be buying a toy for summer so I don't want to blow half the budget on tarting up the scooby. Has anyone had their alloys repainted, if so how much did it cost and who did they use? Were you happy with the results? I don't want to shag up a perfectly good set of gold alloys
ScoobieWRX, how are you going about refurbing your own wheels? I quite fancy the idea of swilling dangerous chemicals and paint around for a weekend. I mean, as Clarkson would say, how hard can it be?

I've got a compressor and i've just bought a new shotblast gun. Add to that a 25Kg bag of Aluminium Oxide that's on the way to me for next week i'll be able to strip all the crap and paint of my alloys. Once the wheel is shotblast prepped for chemical metal filler i'll have filled all the nicks and kerb damage, rub them down and then they'll be ready for several coats of etching primer, mica black paint and clearcoat
My first job however is to blast etch my Turbo and stanless steel exhaust headers, uppipe, downpipe and center pipe ready for ceramic coating which is on the way too. I didn't want to wrap them and felt ceramic coating was the best way to go. The coating i'm using cures at 500F and will withstand 2000F. I look forward to cooler temps under the bonnet and not scolding myself on the exhaust every time i want to do something on the turbo or nearby.
