Mitsubishi Evo X

I got to admit when I saw one (the Evo, not the normal Lancer X) at the Pistonheads/racing show I much prefered the look of the new STi, and before I've always prefered evos. Not sure about the big grill look of the X.
I think the look of the Evo X will take some time to get used to, as it's such a change from the 789. But the same thing happened when the VII was launched, as that was radically different to the VI.As for the new STi, don't get me started, lol!! IT'S A HATCHBACK!!! It's as if Subaru has dropped out of competing with the Evo and is focusing it's attention on beating more mundane stuff like the VXR, Focus RS et al.
I used to bracket the Evo, STi and GTR together back in the late 90's. Not anymore.

The Skyline was always a size up from Impreza/Evo and never a rally-rep so not sure why you lump it in with them.I used to bracket the Evo, STi and GTR together back in the late 90's. Not anymore.
The Evo X has more in common (size, weight, less hardcore etc) with a Galant VR4 than previous Evos - in fact Mitsi NZ wanted to sell it as a Galant but were overrulled by the marketing power of the 'Evo' badge.
Subaru are the only ones still making a road-car similar to their rally cars, it just so happens that a hatchback is the most competitive shape for current WRC regs.
I'd be more inclined to say the Evo has dropped out of competing with the STi rather than the other way round, but what it really comes down to is both companies make what they think will sell - Mitsi have gone bigger and softer, Subaru have gone to a hatch shape (though Impreza sedans are available in some markets).

Except that Mitsi have a hatchback version on it's way (currently called the Prototype X)I love the new Evo X shape and agree that it is much more like the Galant than the previous Lancers.
The only problem I have with the new model is the interior is very "plastic-y"
A decent bit of trim inside would have made it a fantasic car.

k how many they sell, they built a car that will allow them to dominate the WRC again, which is probably what they wanted all alongThats how proper car companies do it

Saw one at our local mitsi dealer, couldn't believe the £38k price tag.
Jaysus. $38k here for the GSR. Including Sat nav and all the toys. Or $33k for the base model; I think you can get it to $40k by including every option on the list, but you need to get both sets of floor mats to do so.GravelBen said:
