For me the looks are really growing on me. Although if I did by the WRX hatchback I think I'd end up regretting not getting the bigger arched Sti. Admittedly it costs a bit more but give it a couple of years and you'll be able to pick up a decent one worth saving yourself a few coin.

The new road tax pricing and ever increasing cost of fuel isn't doing used Impreza prices any good. My advice would to be source a car at least 1 year old which will probably be 2009 for the hatch.

Hmm,

I bought one of the very last "Hawkeye" WRX saloon models, as I wasn't happy with the then to be released Impersonator WRX.

Since then I have been to my local Subaru dealers for servicing (not a single problem, squeek or rattle, in nearly 1 yrs ownership) and had a really good look around the new WRX, and took it for a test drive.

I am still very unhappy about the looks, the nose is fine but the rest is just not right, and the general look 9excluding the acceptable front profile) is just some kind of generic MAZDA/FORD/EURO - Jap copy. Not right at all, even by Subaru's previous "styling" mistakes.

The interior is perhaps slightly better, certainly the controls on the steering are better. Not convinced though, and mine felt more substantial (for a Subaru interior at least!).

The drive was absolutely and definatively not up to th estandard of my standard 2.5 2007 saloon WRX. The roll was so noticable and the set and ride just too soft. No way.......very disapointing, and definately not what I had expected.

I did look at the STI and it certainly looks better than the WRX , by about 100% and if I can bring myself to accept the eurobox style in the future it would be the only one, performance aside. I plan to try one and see how it rides.

Do yourself a favour, buy the best, latest saloon model you can, because that is really the last of the Impreza's. These new ones share the name but they are different cars really!
