Using a Nissan Pulsar on a regular/daily basis?

I own a Tiv and love it to bits, using it more or less as a daily driver. This is obviously a bit costly so I need to reduce the mileage a bit, but ensure that I still enjoy whatever I drive.

Someone I know is offering up a Pulsar with full history for sale (which I posted on here about for advice on selling)and I'm thinking I might be interested.

Are they reliable/unrealiable? Costly to run and repair (remember I do run a Tiv)?

I currently have an old Sunny Gti with about 180k on the clock which is at that stage of life where I either have to move it on to someone who would be prepared to spend some money on it, or do the same myself. So I'm wondering if this "opportunity" for the Pulsar is just that, or completely the opposite.

All contributions very gratefully received.

Any idea on re-build costs? I know it also needs a new clutch and comes with a spare 'box. £2.5k for an H reg.

Gearbox's are a common issue but normally only on ones with big wheels (anything over 16" causes problems) virtually everything on them is a nightmare to do, horrid car to work on and the majority of work can be engine out (including clutch/gearbox), But they are brilliant to drive and there is not much on the rd that will catch a mildly tuned one (memories of a very upset ferrari 355 driver come to mind smile ) petrol consumption can be in the single figures if driven hard and you might get 20mpg on a run.
