R34 GTS-T Skyline...Any good?
Discussion
As per the title...
Is the R34 GTS-T (or is it GTT?) any good in STOCK STANDARD form? I would be using it as a daily with 25,000KMS(approx 15,000 Miles) a year. The daily grind is sitting in traffic for 15 mins and a cruise at 100KMH (60MPH) for another 15 mins.
The missus needs to be able to drive it confidently to and it would need to be able to handle the odd bit of track abuse.
I am assuming they are very similar to the R33 apart from the newer RB26DET NEO engine?

Pretty solid and reliable AFAIK, being a 1450kg 2.5 turbo a tad on the thirsty side as you'd expect. 276bhp/363Nm through the rear wheels (don't think they made an R34 GTS-4) means they'll go sideways on demand, but a fairly long wheelbase and good balance makes them reasonably forgiving from what I've heard (never driven one myself though).
R34 GTT's are brill and with more coming into the UK more parts are available for them at an affordable price

Thanks for the replies guys.
The interior on them look to be higher quality and a bit more cheerful than the R33.
I'm struggling to find an in depth review of them. The performance is a given being a Skyrine and there are plenty of reviews on thrashing one and tuning one but I can never find anything on living with one...comfort, ease of use and the like.
So assuming the same gearbox and similar engine to the R33 are they easy going to drive....Is there enough power/torque to drop it in to 4th gear at suburban speeds and just ride the torque?
Noisy / high revving on the freeway? Top speed I can legally use here in Aus is 110KMH...approx 68MPH.

I absolutely loved mine. It really is worth doing an exhaust and filter on them as it really transforms them to drive. I personally preffered the manual although the tips are very highly rated.
I ran mine across France a few times and found it extremely comfortabnle on long runs but equally at home in city traffic. On a run mine would comfortably get over 30mpg, although the tuning bug hit me hard which dented this significantly!! With a 2.5, there is enough torque to happily run off boost as well.
Very reliable in standard / stage 1 form and the engine gearbox were developments of that in the r33.

forgive me for sticking my oar in but have you thought about a s15 silvia??
an all-round better car
Don't know that I'd say better, just different. Silvia is smaller, lighter, more agile, more of a sportscar whereas the Skyline is bigger, heavier, longer-legged, more of a GT car. Silvia back seats are a joke, Skyline back seats are usable but still not overly spacious. Worth the OP considering though I agree. In fact heres one for sale:an all-round better car

Yes I have considered the S15.
I do actually prefer the looks of the S15 and I thinkthe S15 would be more fun in the twisty stuff.
I'm put off by the 6 speed box...they all seem to be noisy, notchy things.
Also it seems most of the ones local to me have spent their entire life being driven sideways while running horribly lean because of the cruddy, ebay special boost controller thats been fitted!!
The R34 is a bit rarer and I can still get one with respectable mileage on it.

If its a Silvia/S15 your after, best bet is to head on over to the Nissan SX owners club. Theres a classified section, and there are usually a few S15's to be had.
