Anyone use a Scooby sti everyday?

I am trading my R32 golf in for a 54 plate sti with ppp kit on it and will use it everyday for commuting and work. I know that there will be a slight increase in average fuel consumption and cost with super unleaded but are they reliable for about 800 - 1k miles a month?
I have the luxury of getting most of my fuel paid ( i am allowing for £300 per month) and most of my journey will be in 40 mph traffic on the A27 so I am hopeful!

Any info appreciated. Anyone know of a good subaru service type place eastbourne area?

Can't help you with the servicing but I've been commuting about 1200 miles a month for the last 18 months in mine and other than normal servicing and a couple of sets of tyres I've had no problems. My monthly fuel bill is around 290 quid a month. It's not cheap but the roads I drive on are a real joy, I look forward to driving to and from work every day.

A mate of mine raps his STi in cotton wool, it comes out for a run on saturday and he spends all day sunday cleaning it. Needless to say he's had no end of problems with it.... plus it's probably cost him a lot more per mile than me

If you're near Eastbourne then you're probably close enough for Gatwick Subaru. Dave is the only person I trust to handle my cars.

As for every day use - it's what they're made for. I did 70k miles in the P1 and it was brilliant.

The 22b has been ruinous - but that's all my own fault - not the car :P

Got an 04 Sti with PPP and it gets used every day by Mrs GMan as I'm away during the week she commutes about 100 miles a week! Its been fine and I know she rides the clutch off it pulling away! I take it out for long blasts on weekends too and its been great with me. Replaced the clutch last year but but got that under warrenty as I'd only had it 1 month, also check rear shox as again had these replaced but under warrenty! Enjoy

Maybe I am worrying over nothing and should just enjoy...lifes too short to lie awake worrying about the fuel costs anyway.

I happen to know of a rather good garage that specialises in performance cars - but since I no longer live next door perhaps you have forgotten me already!!!

By the way a few of the cars I serviced last week (amongst the daily mundane motors) were TVR 450 (in that horrible pink/purple colour, 57 plate Jaguar XJR 4.2 (1st Warranty Service), 54 plate BMW M3 CSL (not the one you saw last year), Porsche Boxster (Poor man's 2.5 model), BMW X4 4.4 v8 and a Brabus Smart Roadster.

However, if you prefer to pay £108 per hour for a 'proper' stamp in your book - feel free!

I dont know where you got £108 per hour for labour! A Lot of Scooby dealers are less than that.

hi m8 have owned scoobs now for just under 3 years started out with 1995 jap import wrx with a few mods and found it very reliable once ecu was set up to run uk fuel! i now run a highly modded 1998 classic uk turbo 2000 with full built forged parts 2.5 ej25 engine fitted with sti vers 8 6speed box and various other suspension mods etc and basically i love it to bits went out with my buddy t`other day evo8 mr 320fq and was all over him despite his being dyno at 350 bhp (mine runs approx 370bhp and 390 bhp nm torque atmo bigger turbo following shortly!;) i can still return around 20+ mpg off boost and it cruises nicely as an everyday car until you hit the LOUD pedal so basically if you want one go for it as i still find they are one of the easiest cars to self maintain on a day to day basis and you will find the handling and performance so much better than your golf! 4wd is a dream in the wet and basically it can make an average driver look good and a good driver v quick!;) only other cars i would consider even looking at are an e46 m3 csl oe the new evo or skyline but most of these are well beyond my budget at the mo! but one day maybe. hope i have helped you decide if not take a look at a couple of good websites www.scoobynet.co.uk / www.sidc.co.uk and our own club www.scoobysmacs.co.uk

Don't worry it's bought and sitting on the drive. All good so far. 170 miles with half a tank to go although I am sure that will deplete swiftly. Nice knowing I can blow most cars away with a twitch of the right foot even if I don't want to!
