test drove one yesterday..........

my thoughts

- clutch seemed very light and I struggled to change gear smoothly
- drove a 2006 model, where is that reference engine versions?
- engine seemed to hang onto revs more than I expected / am used to, therefore not much engine braking, is this normal?
- MPG, I do a 10 mile commute what should I expect?
- great chassis!

cheers

I have a 2004 model that I've owned for nearly 2 years. The 'rev up' engine (296 HP) was first een in the GT$ ltd edition then went into production in 2006. This model is known to use oil. Some more than others! The clutch on the pre '06 models are heavier and they are even lighter on the 2007 model!

MPG varies as with any car. 30+ CAN be seen on motorways. On general driving, mix of everything including heavy traffic I can see 22-24 mpg. If out for a country hoon it can drop below 20 but you have to try!

How many miles has it done. The clutch on the MY06 models is lighter than the originals but shouldn't hinder gear changes. Might be that the clutch is on its way out.

If its a MY06 it will have the 300ps rev up engine, if its registered in 06 it might have either. Biggest benefit of the MY06 was the revised interior rather then the new engine imo. As Martin said the rev up engine has had issues with oil usage.

The flywheel weighs the same as a small planet, a lightened flywheel and clutch will cost about £800 fitted but brings the car alive

expect low 20's on a commute, high 20's on a motorway cruise

- great chassis!
