I've had a 95 Rev3 MR2 GT-S Turbo for about 3 weeks now and am loving it. Involving to drive, quick enough standard, by all accounts reliable if not modded stupidly and serviced correctly and to top it off 32mpg on a run. Got 320 miles to my last tank on the way to and from Japfest at the weekend.
I use my 6 daily and have had no real issue's with it... Biggest expense i've had was my own making when i decided to have it remapped...
Fuel economy isnt that bad if you dont cane it everywhere. On a longer run cruising i easily see 26mpg. That figure is pretty much the same before and after the remap. Before it had a std 280brake, now its got 320 and about the same torque.
If you buy a GSR or Tommi you will have the anti yaw control to worry about and this is the thing that needs servicing every 4500 miles, and dictates the service interval. Indi servicing is the way forward, Main dealers will charge you an arm and a leg for servicing. My local Jap specialist will do a small service on Mine for about £100 and even a large service is not that much above £200. Then again as i say my RS doesnt need the AYC oil changing which can be a pain to do.
The model I have is an RS2 and i dont have the AYC fitted, just stronger front and rear RS Diffs. AYC has a habit of breaking under a hard launch and is stupidly expensive to fix.
Running costs overall are not that bad and they are fairly reliable. Compared to My old Skyline R32 GTR this is much cheaper to run and arguably a lot better handling. Although i loved the GTR for its sheer Brutality!!
Am having to sell my VI RS2 though do to work problems... shame really, had planned on keeping it a lot longer....
