Lexus Supercar 'To Cost $225,000'

Lexus LF-A may have hybrid V8 and cost three times as much as a Nissan GT-R

The Lexus LF-A supercar will cost more than £110,000 – in America.

A Lexus source has reportedly revealed that the new 500bhp V10 supercar will cost three times as much as a Nissan GT-R (they are also much cheaper in the States), and may be as much as $225,000.

This means that the car could cost considerably more here when it is released.

It is no secret that the 200mph supercar is coming soon, having been seen testing numerous times at the Nurburgring.

It is said to have the same sized wheelbase as a Ferrari F430, but with will be two inches shorter and an inch narrower.

Apparently a Lexus source told Edmunds that the price tag in the US will ‘begin with a two’, and the convertible roadster is likely to cost quite a bit more.

Reports suggest that the car will have 5.0-litre V10 motor and possibly even a V8 hybrid.

A final production version is expected to be revealed late next year.

Dear god that sounds AWESOME.....!

Love V10s. Quite Pricey, wonder how many people would actually pay this for a Toyota??!?! (Not badge snobbery on my part - I most probably would going by recent Jap efforts, but many people may be turned off by the fact.)

Aside from the pant-wetting engine note... can it really be three times as good as the GT-R?

Probably about as good as the old Supra was against the GTR back in the day.

Not quite as good, but RWD and plenty of tuning potential on standard internals.

Not many tuners are going to shell out £110k to then start modifying it though!

Why do I get this horrible feeling it'll still, despite its specification, be really soporific to drive?

That is so nice. I would expect a lexus to be three times more than a nissan really.

Tedious and sleep-inducing.

A bit like that Lexus 'take yer miles away, in seconds' advert. All that told me was that I'd be a hazard to other motorists if I bought one as I'd inevitably fall asleep at the wheel.

A friend and I are currently planning our annual cross-continental jaunt, and having surveyed his fleet, we've decided against the Lexus in favour of the RX-8 we took last year, for these very reasons.

There was one testing at the ring last year, the V10 seemed to rev forever cloud9

Same day as there were some 997 GT2's, a Scuderia and a Alfa 8C amongst others.

For me there are too many rivals with much better pedigree in that price range to even think of spending that kind of money on a Lexus. It does sound great though. I read a while back that this Lexus was to be used in a 24 hour race at the ring,so i cant see the road going model being as loud,as this is still in the development stage.

I for one love the car, it, i think be a great change to all the ferrari and lambo. People always waffle about pedigree and must be italian etc etc, but at least this way you will get a very reliable supercar and very sexy looks to boot

Lexus have never built a supercar before,so how do you know it will be reliable? Porsche have been building reliable supercars for years.

Can I remember correctly, during GTR release some people were saying - "wait till lexus super car comes out, it'll be better and cheaper"?
