RX8 MOT failure due to emissions - advice needed
Discussion
Bit surprised that our 4 year old (1 year with us) RX8 failed its MOT on emissions and we've been told we have to take it to a main dealer, and its probably the catalytic converter. I know there were some problems with earlier RX8s and the catalyst, anyone know anything about that? Any recalls or dealer fixes applied to these earlier cars that maybe mine missed out on? We bought it as an approved used Mazda from dealer.
Also, anyone got any ideas for an alternative (cheaper) explanation?
I've got it booked into the dealer and also spoken to Mazda (who basically said they might be prepared to pay for the fix but it depended on what the dealer found which is fair enough), but I just wanted to be prepared.
Thanks

Just got a call from the Mazda dealer that I took the car to for re-test. MOT passed, no need to change the catalyst or anything else. Funny that...
I guess it is how you test it, and how much grief you want from warranty claims from customers. Plus I did my best to make sure the exhaust was fully warmed before I dropped it off
.
Thanks for all your help, I'm sure the fact that I raised the issue of known problems and recalls with the catalyst helped ease things through.
Cheers
