Cleaning my car (pic heavy)
Discussion
I'm a fan of dirty cars and feel cars that are too clean are lacking a bit of soul. Slamm on the other hand comes from a long line of clean car fanatics, so keeps her Elise looking pretty all the time. Now the car is 2 years old, she wanted to get the Elise detailed again (she had the car detailed not long after getting it from the dealers).
A serial Ferrari and other exotic stuff owner we know recommended Dave of Sportscar Protection, so we got in touch and sorted out him coming round to clean the Elise and I succumbed to allowing the Scooby to be cleaned too.
I thought the Scooby was pretty clean, but after looking at it properly, you can see one or two swirls in the soft paint with dull and faded bits:

... I could go on (I have about 30 of these shots).
He came round and cleaned the Elise first and after seeing the state of the Scooby called in re-enforcements for the day after!
So three guys spend about 30 man-hours cleaning the car, and the difference is amazing - it looks like a different car!
These shots show how much smoother the paint looks:

(look a long way to the left on that last one to see the shiny bit)
With a few before and after shots:

The full glory was when the car was back outside though and you could see the mirror like finish Dave and co and done to the paint:

sorry it's the wrong way round...

They spent another few hours putting more coats of wax on, re-touching the faded grey bits back to black and making the wheels look like they'd been reconditioned.
I am now a true convert to detailing! It really hit home how good it looked when I went out to see how they were doing and stood in the garage looking at the back of the car. This is a view I know well, but my eyes were shouting at my brain that it was a different car all together; it was so clean and shiny that I really didn't recognise it as my car!
All in all, I can't recommend these guys enough, very friendly, very cheap (3 guys for 10 hour cleaning my car was a lot less than I expected!) and so much better than anybody without thousands of pounds worth of kit and the patience of Job could manage to get.
