good prices on tires
Discussion
hey chaps,
Its time to ditch the Nankangs off my MR2 before the first sign of rain has me headed backwards towards the nearest lampost. I think I'm going to go for a set of Falken FK452 all around, but where to get them from? Camskill seem quite good at £50 a corner, but do people who get through a lot of tires here know any better avenues?
Also, the car has a set of pretty new, decent-looking R rated Firestones on the front...are they likely to be sh*t as well, so should i just ditch the Nankangs and keep the front tires, or replace all 4?
tbh I dont really drive on the limit a lot as im rarely on country roads, its mostly wet weather traction i want to be sure of.
thanks

Always found ww.mytyres.co.uk to be very competitive with tyre pricing and delivery. Not had a problem yet. Have them delivered to a local tyre fitting place and they should fit for you.
Also worth speaking to your local place before you order as sometimes they can counter offer. In Saffron Walden my local National Auto Centre (end of my street)knew me well and fitted them for me for about £5 a wheel, they couldn't match the price, but the company I now use in Swindon price matched me the same tyre and fitted there and then.

I personally think that Toyos are crap.
I was nearly in the ditch when i had toyos on my car.. Absolute no grip in the wet.
how about Vredestein Ultrac

It's funny how come in all the proper tyre reviews T1R's seem to do exceptionaly well in the wet handling and standing water areas against much more expensive and established opposition. Admittedly there are better handling tyres in dry weather but i've always found Toyo's to be excellent in the wet. Through standing water at some very silly speeds they are exceptional!!I was nearly in the ditch when i had toyos on my car.. Absolute no grip in the wet.

In the dry half the problem is Toyo's need a bit of extra air in them in the because the tread is actually very grippy but the reinforced tyrewall doubles over because it's still a bit soft compared to other Ultra performance tyres when pushed hard, but they do last well and i have used them on circuit to good effect with decent tyre pressures.
They give you plenty of warning too before they let go wet or dry and that is a life saver, however if you don't take notice of what the tyres are telling you it doesn't matter what tyre is on your car, wet or dry,...you will end up in the kitty litter

I heard vredesteins are very good in both wet and dry. One of these days i'll try something else but ultimately i think it's all down to what works well on what cars, and what the driver gets on with

I had toyos on a previous car and they were spot on (Toyo T1-s), my experience in the scooby was turn in slide slide slide slide, f
k b
ks s
t a tree, foot to the floor, and then Grip. Only after a brown pants moment did they grip. Been around the same round about since in worse weather even quicker. But in the dry they were wearing the sidewalls of the tyres to much when cornering hard. this was to the point that half of the writing off the sidewall was worn off. They lasted 3000 miles before i gave up on them. Still had 5mm thread left.
