MR2 Help please?

I have a 2001 MR2 (current shape.)
The battery went dead. I cahanged it for a new one.
Now the thing wont respond to the immobiliser.
It wont go to pre-ignition (light-up) mode.
I changed the battery in the key, to make sure it was getting a good signal.
No response.
How do I get the thing going again please?

Guy who bought my dads old celica had the same problem, he called RAC and its something to do with the rolling code going out of sync, fix was a certain button pressing combination.
