Celica handbrake adjustment advise please
Discussion
Good morning all.
Having changed the rear discs and pads on my 53 plate Celica T-Sport through the usual (for me) routine of wrestling with the first rear disc (blind without a manual to explain exactly what I should be doing through the hole in the disc`s hub to release the handbrake shoes) then, with the now exposed handbrake assembly showing the bleedin` obvious, doing the second one in seconds, I now need to adjust the handbrake. I was hoping it would do itself, but the thing rolls off my drive unless I use the newly available warped old discs as chocks.
Can anyone advise me on how to adjust the handbrake please?
Cheers,
Gary

With the wheel off, there will be a rubber bung which I'm guessing you removed to take the disc off anyway. If you turn the disc so the hole is pretty much at the bottom and shine a torch through the hole, you should see a little toothed wheel. Turn that wheel with a small screwdriver and you should hear/feel the ratchet mech working. I can't remember off hand which way you need to turn them though. I normally tighten them both up till you can't turn the disc by hand, then loosen them off a couple of turns. This should then give you a handbrake that comes up by about 4-5 clicks. Hope this helps.
