very wierd problem....

well firstly ill admit to having ventured into the jap forum from the holden forum... but i just bought a 2002 petrol nissan primera.. during the day it drives fine... at night when i put my headlights on it goes into safety mode!.. if i switch them off it goes fine..back on and it slows down.. feels like having launch control fitted! any ideas?

I would guess you have an issue with one of your lamps or light clusters upsetting voltages back to the engine management and causing a switch to limp mode ??? Any dashboard warnings ?? Try a process of elimination. Disconnect each corner light cluster of the car in turn ( during the day, naturally ! ), go for a short drive and see if it makes a difference.
