performance bargain?

i keep spotting my 1999-2000 impreza turbos going for around the £2k mark, this seems an incredible performance bargain, would i be buying into a heap of trouble?
for whats its worth im after a standard (no dump valves/big exhausts) impreza turbo of around this age, color isnt important.

Hey, prices for thirsty cars have come down since the petrol prices went up.
If that's the market rate for them, and they are fully documented unabused cars then why not. Imprezas can wear miles well so long as they are looked after.

Personally I'd always buy the best car I can afford, and buy on condition over age or milage.

i picked up my impreza wrx (jap import) for 3.2k and that was 14 months ago. I can honestly say they are built like tanks, as mine spent most of its life driving fast or commuting to work, and she just put up with it. I also did what must have been 500+ full power race starts, and she didnt bat an eyelid, clutch only just started to go before i sold it, and that was only when u tried a full power start.

Like what was said above, if you service em, let em warm up + cool down theyll last ages, mine even had a small incident with a wall, and ill i did was replace some pannels and she was fine. They are proper heavyweight cars, i really miss mine sometimes
