After a lot of debate about what car to get to see me through the next copule of years (ie until I can afford my 911 turbo!) I've settled on a RX8. Took me about 4 weeks but I've found one perfect for me and paid my deposit, should be collecting next week.

Its a 231 with satnav & parking sensors. 40,000 miles on a 05 plate, full main dealer history and one owner.

Its going to be a change driving something so 'revvy' after years of torquey Porsche ownership, but have had an extended test drive in the car and really liked it - it also passes the 'her indoors' test as the newly arrived baby and associated paraphanelia fit in easily!

Now, I'm up to speed on the fuel/oil consumption and impending tax hike. I'm aware of the flooding issue (this car has had the mod, but apparently it makes little difference!) but would be grateful for any other ownership 'top tips'. I'm considering getting radiator griles for the front as those rads look about as exposed and vulnerable as they are on Porsche 996. Other than that looking to swap the chrome filler cap (not to my taste) for a body coloured one (Brilliant Black if anyone fancies the swap) but other than that will be keeping her completely stock.

Looks nice Lee, how much did you pay for it?

Allowing for trade value of my A class (yeeeuch!) I effectively gave approx £8K for it which I'm happy with. Did see a few with less miles but otherwise basically the same but they weren't in the same condition. In fact a couple of them were quite frankly an embarrassment to their sellers!

Looks nice. I always said I would keep mine standard but I spent £500 on a Borla Exhaust. Its outstanding and changes the whole character of the car, well worth it IMHO.

The RX8 owners club forum is worth a look.

I nearly changed mine for a 993 a few weeks back but the loss on the RX8 was shocking (around £10K in just over a year).

Think I will keep it and ether supercharge it or buy a nice toy for the garage(when I can afford it)

Thanks - have already read up on the Borla exhaust. Plan is to perhaps get one when I've had her a year or so - I have a nasty habit of wanting to change a car after a year so doing a mod like a really nice new exhauist is foten a good idea to keep me interested!

Which RX8 forum? Seen a couple but the nest looking one appears to be the one that is £30 or so to join? Don't mind paying, just want to make sure its the right one!

Lots of discussion on the owners club forum at the moment Ref Toyo. They seem well rated and offer good grip in the wet. Slightly softer so more give in the tyrewall and wont last as well.

I had them on my old 968 and they were fab

Sweet ! Gratz loved mine!

1) Owners Club membership
2) Borla Exhaust
3) A supercharger biggrin

Make sure you disable the DSP/TC if you want a quick start, otherwise mr electonic sensible head under the dash spoils your fun...

Very similar to my 2000 2.7 Boxster which was flat black.

Still remember the 'fun' I had cleaning her....and then making her filthy in just 5 mins of driving!

Anyway, getting some strakes thrown into the deal - what do we reckon on a black car... stainless steel or matching black? Also, anyone want to swap fuel cap - I'd prefer a body coloured one but it has a chrome one at the moment.

4 days to go... insurance, road tax and money all sorted - just need to get out of work in good time on Friday and get to the dealer before he closes!
