Hi All,

Hope this is the right forum! I currently have a 04 T3x Avensis thats done 58k , its in reasonable condition. Been offered a £4k value on that for trade in on a pre-regged 58/08 1.8 TR version (regged in September).

The new car is priced at 17.something , toyota is giving £2k off at the moment so thats 15 and with the trade in am looking just north £11k all in.

Questions are;
- How does this sound for the new car?
- How does it sound for trade in value?
- With the new Avensis out in Jan should I be looking to wait a few weeks for more of a discount?

Any pointers would be gratefully recieved!

No I am not a taxi driver ;-)

It's the right forum, but I don't think many people will know much about the Avensis I'm afraid. I think it's more tilted to the performance/sportcars that Japan produced.

The Avensis I'm sure is a good car, but can't see it pressing many pistonheads buttons to be honest? So knowledge of 2nd hand/trade in values will be limited. Might be worth trying a different forum, maybe the odd car dealer browsing may be able to help you? smile

All the best

In answer to yuor questions...

1) Toyota are offering £2000 off all brand new (non pre-reg) TR's at the moment, plus the centre margin, so you can easily get £3000 off list.
2) £4000 seems pretty good to me. It books at £4350 with 49K - (assuming it's a 1.8 5dr manual) and is dropping 250-300 a month.
3) There are very few left now, as production started a few weeks ago on the all new model, you may get a slightly better deal, but there will be limited availablity

DONT buy the old model now.go for the new one just out and haggle hard as its a buyers market.nobody will want the old model in a few years so any savings you make from a dealer trying to shift old stock now, will hit you come p/x down the line next time ...
