Impreza clutch change
Discussion
Just had mine changed on an 05 WRX Wagon - so:
Dealership quoted me £1097 - including a new flywheel at £280 and I "think" 5 hours of labour at around £80 per hour. Obviously not over happy with that so...
In the end I got it done by a local Scooby specialist £500 all in for parts and labour including a lightened balanced flywheel. The clutch fitted was an Excedy OEM item. When the work was done I dropped the car around 08:30 and had it back all done by 12:12 same day so I think if you have someone who knows what they are about, it isn't a long job. I had a stainless straight through pipe fitted at the same time removing the centre cat at the same time too!
There are enough Subaru specialists about now so I would look for one. I don't think I'll be going back to a dealer with mine now.
Ned to be very careful with flywheels - I gather that if the clutch goes it tends to frag the flywheel too causing cracking round the mounting points. You should probably budget for one and then be pleasantly surprised if you don't need it.
Good luck with it.
