any FTO owners here ???

i am in the market for a new car , i have my heart set on an alfa romeo , but i have had my resolve questioned by the FTO , any advice ?

are they reliable , are they good to drive and would i regret the desision should i buy one ?

Hi,
The GPvR or GP Version R is the best performance vehicle out of them all.I have owned one for a year with no problems(I know thats not long).Once you get used to the tiptronic gearbox it's very good and the handling is also very good.MIVEC technology, LSD, front & rear strut bars, more welding points on the chassis, different front seats,mine is black with red seats, different spoiler as standard, HID headlights, lightweight model due to only having manual air con rather than climate control, less sound proofing, , no retractable wing mirrors. Mine is an Aero version which has central locking and side skirts as standard and these are very rare.

I've recently bought a 1.8 on racing volk alloys, stainless exhaust etc etc.
My background is powerful rwd saloons but have to say the FTO is a real giggle.
Mine has no torque whatsoever, it is also a tiptronic, it feels like a go-kart and I really enjoy driving it. It's certainly nippy and has a quite respectable turn of speed when needed. It has very precise handling, very much point and go, feels like your sitting on the floor! Mine squeaks and rattles and the road noise is very intrusive. That said I recently did a 300 mile trip in it and still loved every minute of it.
Being a mitsubishi I know that when I go out to it in the morning and its covered in ice and snow, I know its going to start and get me to work.
The lack of torque isn't that much of a problem if you use the revs, as I say I'm used to big V8s with plenty of low down grunt but if you just adjust your driving style a little you'll have a real laugh and thoroughly enjoy even the shortest journeys.

I like the FTO, however I think you need to get them in the right colour to show the shape off. Some look superb and others just look a bit awkward.

Go for the fastest one possible IMO as some are pretty slow. Having said that over the years I've come up against a few FTO's and none have proven to live upto their street cred performance wise, but maybe they just weren't fast examples.

I've had one for 4 1/2 years and in that time i've put on tyres, brakes, service parts as expected. but the only thing to go wrong has been 1 rear drop link, never missed a beat.
